Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Joe Biden’s granddaughter, Naomi Biden, took action when three individuals attempted to break into an unmarked Secret Service vehicle in Washington, D.C., according to a law enforcement official who spoke with The Big Big News.

The incident occurred late Sunday night in the Georgetown neighborhood while the agents were accompanying Naomi Biden. Observing the three individuals attempting to break the window of the parked and unoccupied SUV, one of the agents discharged their firearm. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the gunfire, as confirmed by the Secret Service in an official statement. Subsequently, the three suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a red vehicle, prompting the Secret Service to issue a regional bulletin to the Metropolitan Police to assist in locating the suspects.

It is worth noting that Washington, D.C. has experienced a notable increase in carjackings and vehicle thefts this year. Law enforcement has recorded over 750 carjackings and more than 6,000 reports of stolen vehicles within the district. Notably, U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas fell victim to a carjacking near the Capitol last month, carried out by three armed assailants who stole his vehicle but did not physically harm him.

Furthermore, violent crime in Washington has seen a significant uptick, with a more than 40% increase compared to the previous year. In February, U.S. Rep. Angie Craig of Minnesota endured an assault in her apartment building, sustaining bruises but thankfully escaping serious injury.
