PoliticsBelarusEuropeMoscowWorld News Russia Placing Nukes On Belarus’ Western Border: Envoy Confirms by Lucas Garcia April 2, 2023 written by Lucas Garcia April 2, 2023 0 comments Bookmark 66 The Russian ambassador to Belarus announced on Sunday that Russia will place nuclear weapons close to the borders of countries that are members of NATO. This is happening while tensions between Russia and these Western nations have grown because of the war in Ukraine. Ambassador Boris Gryzlov said something after the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, made a statement about his plan to set up nuclear weapons in Russia’s nearby friend’s country. Putin is trying to frighten the West from assisting Ukraine with this dangerous and risky threat of using nuclear weapons. President Putin has said that the building of special places to store nuclear weapons in Belarus will be over by July 1. He also mentioned that they helped modernize Belarusian planes so that they can carry nuclear weapons. Russia and Belarus have a plan where they’re really close with each other, like trading together, having similar political ideas, and helping out militarily. Russia drove through Belarus to invade Ukraine and even left their military forces and weapons there too. Gryzlov said that there will soon be Russian nuclear weapons close to the Western border of Belarus. He didn’t give an exact place but added that it will help protect them despite people in Europe and the United States being against this decision. Belarus has a 778-mile border that touches three NATO countries: Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Tactical nuclear weapons are different from the kind of nuclear warheads that can blow up entire cities. They are made to do smaller damage on enemy troops or weapons during wars. Russia is planning to send some of its nuclear weapons to Belarus, which is located near Ukraine and countries that are in the NATO alliance. Belarus’s president, Alexander Lukashenko, said on Friday that Russia could potentially be putting both their tactical and strategic nuclear weapons in the country.
