MoviesBusinessEntertainment Rihanna and Martin Scorsese Create Hollywood Magic at CinemaCon with Paramount Movies by Joshua Brown April 27, 2023 written by Joshua Brown April 27, 2023 0 comments Bookmark 64 Paramount Pictures had a special show on Thursday at the CinemaCon, complete with famous stars like Rihanna and Martin Scorsese. The reason why they put on this show was to celebrate their movie “Top Gun: Maverick’s” making around 1.5 billion dollars at theaters worldwide! Paramount releases fewer movies than other big movie studios, but they can still provide some popular titles such as “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” that comes out on August 4, “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” which will be released on June 9 and the much-anticipated “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie” set to hit theaters on September 29. This studio is also taking care of the theatrical release for Martin Scorsese’s upcoming movie called “Killers of the Flower Moon”. It will have its first showing at Cannes next month and then it will be released in cinemas on October 6. Needless to say, Paramount is also working on producing yet another installment from the iconic franchise of “Mission: Impossible”. The studio released an exciting scene from the new movie, “Dead Reckoning Part I”, which stars Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell. The movie will be in theaters starting on Wednesday, July 12. Tom Cruise wasn’t present at the screening. Additionally, the studio revealed that they have two new movies coming out in 2025 – “The Spongebob Movie: Search for Squarepants” and “The Smurf Movie,” which stars Rihanna as Smurfette who was also a producer of the film. Rihanna said, “I wanted to get a part in the Papa Smurf animation but it didn’t work out. Doing voice-acting for animations is a fun experience and I got to act out being a blue character in my third trimester. Maybe this will make me cool when I have kids someday.” The huge star presence even made Director Steven Caple Jr. a bit nervous: he yelled out, “I just met Rihanna backstage!” On stage, Transformers actor Dominique Fishback thanked the Regal movie theaters – she used to work at one when she was younger, and always wanted to be on screen! When Scorsese appeared to talk about the movie, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which is being released in cinemas, he got a big round of applause from the theatre owners. He said that it was made to be watched on a large screen and although it can still be enjoyed on smaller screens, you should watch it on a large one. At the event, the director showed a trailer for a movie about some murders that happened in Oklahoma many years ago. We heard lots of gunshots, saw sad scenes and even got to laugh at some moments. The detective sent to learn more about these murders was played by Jesse Plemons. The director also mentioned that this is his sixth time working with Leonardo DiCaprio and tenth time with Robert De Niro – and it was the first time he had worked with both of them together! The producer behind the show “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, Seth Rogen, was joking about how it seemed unfair to ask movie studio executives to host a presentation at a theatre that is usually meant for celebrities. The event was taking place in the Colosseum theater located inside Caesars Palace Hotel that can seat over 4,100 people. Joking around, Rogen said: “They built this for Adele!”. CinemaCon is the perfect place if you want to have a chat with someone who runs two movie theaters in Wilmington. That’s why people go there! Rogen showed an amusing extended clip from the upcoming movie “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” which will be released on August 4th. He joked and said, so if you show this to your kids, don’t worry – you won’t be considered a bad parent! John Krasinski showed a scene from the upcoming movie “A Quiet Place: Day One”. This film is directed by Michael Sarnoski and stars Lupita Nyong’o. It tells the story of what happened on the day when aliens began their invasion in New York, as seen through her eyes. You can watch it at cinemas starting March 8. John Krasinski gave the directing job of the “Quiet Place” spinoff to someone else so he can focus on his upcoming movie called “If,” which will be released in 2024. He said he wanted to make this movie so his kids would have something they could watch before they turn 40. It stars Ryan Reynolds and it’s about imaginary friends. According to Ryan Reynolds, it’s like a live-action version of a Pixar movie. Paramount will be releasing a new animated Transformers movie called “Transformers One” in 2024. It stars famous actors like Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Laurence Fishburne, Keegan Michael-Key and Jon Hamm. A movie based on the life of Bob Marley was just finished filming too. Its cast includes Kingsley Ben-Adir, Lashana Lynch and Ziggy Marley (his real son!). This movie is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and will come out next year. Brian Robbins, the CEO of Paramount said that theaters need to be around for streaming services to work well. He has noticed that the number of people using Paramount+ is growing very quickly. Chris Aronson, who runs theater movie ticket sales asked if people can make it cheaper to buy tickets. “Before the Coronavirus, ticket sales for movies were decreasing and ticket prices were increasing,” Aronson said. “We should be trying different prices to see what works best in order to make more money. We should work together and figure out the right pricing strategy.” When we tried this with a movie called “80 for Brady”, tickets were sold at discount matinee prices everywhere – AMC, Cinemark and Regal- regardless of the location. The movie made almost $40 million in total!
