President Vladimir Putin of Russia met with China’s Defense Minister on Sunday. This showed how China is building a relationship with Russia, thinking of it as a partner and not an enemy.

China wants to have less influence from America and other Western countries that have different views than them. Just last month, the leader of China named Xi Jinping visited Moscow for three days.

China has not said anything bad about Russia’s military actions in Ukraine and accused the U.S. and other countries of NATO for instigating Moscow. However, the Chinese foreign minister declared last week that China would not be giving weapons to Russia like some of the other countries such as the US have suspected.

China is not getting officialy involved in the conflict taking place in Ukraine. But, during Xi’s trip to Russia, it became clear that China has become an important partner for Russia. China helps to give them political support and has been providing economic aid during this difficult time for them.

At the beginning of their meeting, Putin talked positively about how relations between Russia and China have been developing well.

The military departments of different countries are working together to exchange useful information and do things like practice doing joint operations in the Far East area, Europe, on the ground, ocean, and air.

Li said that the relationship between countries is much stronger than during the Cold War. It follows certain rules and it’s very stable.
