Martin Scorsese Award

The Producers Guild of America announced on Thursday that Martin Scorsese will be the recipient of the esteemed David O. Selznick Achievement Award in February.

PGA Presidents Donald De Line and Stephanie Allain jointly stated, “Marty has set a pioneering path in producing, with a career spanning several decades and featuring groundbreaking projects. His exceptional dedication and expertise in filmmaking deserve recognition.”

Scorsese, a veteran producer with a career spanning over sixty years and a three-time nominee for the PGA Award, reminisced about his early accolade from the guild. “In March 1965, as a 22-year-old, I received an award from the PGA for my student film, ‘It’s Not Just You, Murray!’ During the same ceremony, the acclaimed Alfred Hitchcock was also honored. Now, 58 years later, I find myself in a similar revered position. Receiving an award named for the legendary producer David O. Selznick is both an honor and a reflection of my journey coming full circle,” he shared.

His extensive producing portfolio includes not only his own films such as “Hugo” and “The Wolf of Wall Street,” but also a diverse range of projects including Hollywood blockbusters, independent movies, documentaries, foreign cinema, and works of first-time directors. His television production credits are notable as well, including shows like “Boardwalk Empire.”

Notably, despite his illustrious career, Scorsese has yet to receive the guild’s highest honor for best theatrical motion picture.

The award ceremony, set for February 25 in Los Angeles, will see Scorsese joining an illustrious list of past recipients including Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise, and Kevin Feige.
