New Poll: More Peril for Trump in Pending Probes Than NY State Investigations

Former President Donald Trump has not been hurt by the legal charges against him in New York. But a new survey shows that people are watching investigations of him in Georgia and Washington to see if he will face negative consequences from them.

40% of adults in the United States think President Trump may have done something illegal in New York, where he has been associated with money paid to women who claimed they had sexual encounters with him. A lot more people – around half – feel that Trump might have broken the law in Georgia related to how he interfered with votes during the 2020 election.

Around half of people questioned in a survey are not sure about how President Trump acted when the US Capitol was stormed on 6th January 2021, or what he did with secret papers found at Mar-a-Lago. The Justice Department is looking into both of these incidents.

Recent results show that future charges against Trump for other issues might be more understood by the people in the USA than allegations about his cover-up of payments to Stormy Daniels and other women when the 2016 elections were happening. Out of the adults surveyed, almost 6 out of 10 believed this was all politically based actions. Also remember, President Trump is now history’s very first former president to face criminal charges. Though these accusations got a massive amount of attention, experts agree that with the other investigations on going – there could be even higher risks ahead.

The situation in Georgia has caused some trouble, even for people who have been supporting Donald Trump (President of the United States) since a long time. Stephanie Trinidad, a Republican from Massachusetts who voted for Trump twice, says “Mr. Trump got into something he should not have done. I’m not sure if it’s illegal or not but the votes should just remain as they are.”

The survey showed that President Trump has not suffered in any way due to the indictment. In fact, it gave him a huge opportunity to increase his fundraising, collecting over $15 million from mostly new donors. He also got loads of new endorsements.

Only 30% of Americans, including 55% of Republicans, want President Trump to run for president in 2024. This number has not changed since January when the same question was asked. People’s opinions on President Trump has also stayed the same – 34% of adults and 68% of Republicans have a good opinion of him.

Even though Donald Trump is a front-runner for the Republican nomination, he will face many challenges if he wins it. The poll shows that 53% of people survey say they definitely won’t vote for him in the general election.

When it comes to the New York case about Trump, 41% of people believe he did something illegal. 33% think he was just being unethical, but not breaking any laws. Around 14% say he didn’t do anything bad.

Most people (57%) think that Trump’s indictment in the case was correct and fair, but there are people who feel that his charges were because of politics rather than justice.

Gino Lentine is an Ohio man who really likes President Trump. He doesn’t care about the controversy surrounding him, and thinks it’s no big deal even if he paid someone a hundred thousand dollars. According to Gino, if you try to punish everybody for such things, then everyone in the whole country would be locked up! He also pointed out that it costs around one hundred thousand dollars just to fill up his car with gas. So, his opinion is that no one should be worrying about what President Trump spent money on.

In New York, people have a good opinion of President Trump. But in Georgia, Investigator Fani Willis is looking into whether Trump and his supporters did something wrong during the 2020 election. A grand jury found out that maybe more than twelve people, including Trump, should be charged. They even heard a recording of when Trump asked elections officials to help him get 11,780 votes so he could win. Now it’s up to Fani to decide what happens next

Many people think that President Trump did something illegal in the Georgia case, with 53% saying so.Meanwhile, 12% think he did something wrong but not illegal, and 17% say he didn’t do anything wrong.Anna Trinidad, 36 years old, thinks these investigations are just a way to prevent him from winning the election again – but she does believe there’s some truth behind the Georgia case.

“When it comes to voting and processing votes, I get a bit worried because this is a big deal – it’s our right as American citizens. Right now, I’m not sure who I will vote for in 2024,” she said.

Out of the American people, almost half think that President Trump acted illegally when it comes to classified documents and the January 6th Capitol riot. About 20% say he did something wrong but not against the law, and about the same amount say he didn’t do anything wrong at all.

The survey results show that people’s opinions about the investigations depend on their political views. Most Democrats think Trump did something illegal in Georgia (86%) or in New York (68%), but only a few Republicans feel that way for each investigation (22% and 13% respectively).

Most Democrats think that the indictment in the New York case was fine, but only a few Republicans agree. However, nearly all Republicans think that the charges were just politically motivated, but fewer Democrats agreed.

Nicole Sawyer, who lives in Middletown, Pennsylvania and usually supports Democrats and likes President Joe Biden, thinks that although President Trump has done some bad things, these investigations are mostly based on politics.

Sawyer, 45, believes people are wasting time by investigating President Trump too much. She claims that important matters like Social Security and healthcare don’t get the attention they deserve because of all the drama with the President. Although she thinks this is wrong, Sawyer also said that if it’s found out that Trump did something bad then he should not be president anymore.

A woman said that it’s important for kids to have a president they look up to, without drama getting in the way of taking care of what really matters. A poll of 1,230 adults showed this, and it had a 3.9% margin of error.
