NATO Allies Make History with Record-Breaking Deployment of Combat Vehicles and Tanks to Ukraine

The head of NATO announced on Thursday that almost all the combat vehicles promised to Ukraine have arrived. This means that Ukraine now has a bigger army and is ready to fight back against Russia in the ongoing war.

NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) has sent Ukraine more than 1,550 armored vehicles, 230 tanks and other equipment including lots of ammunition. This has equipped over 30,000 troops who are spread across nine new Ukrainian brigades. All this will help Ukraine to keep taking back territory that was taken away from them by other countries.

A day after Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chinese leader Xi Jinping had a phone call, his comments came out. The two talked for a long time and the contact was special since Russia invaded Ukraine more than 1 year ago. Although Zelenskyy felt encouraged by the call and Western people were happy about it, no real changes in peace happened yet.

Russia and Ukraine don’t agree on how to make peace and the Chinese government doesn’t want to criticize Russia’s attack. China wants to be a powerful international leader and teams up with Russia to stand against what the US does in global matters. The Chinese President recently visited Moscow for this purpose.

Stoltenberg said all the countries belonging to NATO (which is 31 in number) are joining together to help Ukraine become stronger. This means that if Ukraine takes back control of land being held by Russia, they will have a stronger ability to negotiate peacefully with them.

Russia was not very excited when both China and Ukraine had their call together.

The Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked if the call between the Chinese and Ukrainian leaders could help end the conflict. He answered by saying that Russia is ready to accept anything which can cause the fighting in Ukraine to stop and all of Russia’s goals are accomplished. He also said that this conversation between China and Ukraine is their private matter, not for anyone else’s interference.

Recently, the situation in Ukraine has been mostly the same. But Russian troops have still kept bombing and attacking some Ukrainian cities and towns. Between Wednesday and Thursday, 7 people were killed and 33 other people were hurt according to Ukraine’s president office.

A terrible event happened in the city of Mykolaiv, Ukraine. Four missiles called Kalibrs were launched from somewhere in the Black Sea and hit this city. One person was killed and 23 others – including a child – got hurt. Many buildings such as apartment blocks, houses and other homes suffered severe damage as well. The governor of Mykolaiv said that 22 tall buildings, 12 private homes and more residential buildings have been affected by the attack.

Cook sent out information from Brussels. Yuras Karmanau, who works for the Associated Press, added to the report from Tallinn, Estonia. To stay up-to-date about what is happening between Ukraine and Russia, visit https://bigbignews.net/russia-ukraine.
