The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival starts this Friday for two weekends. During the festival, many kinds of music will be playing including R&B, rock ‘n roll, Zydeco, pop, blues, country, rap, gospel and jazz! Music fans will gather at the fairgrounds to listen to these awesome musicians from all around the world. The gates open at 11:00 am so make sure you’re there on time!

Friday night’s show will feature music from lots of talented artists, like Lizzo, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Big Freedia, Tank and The Bangas, Wu-Tang Clan with The Soul Rebels, Nicholas Payton, Mavis Staples, Kermit Ruffins and the Barbecue Swingers, Charlie Musselwhite and Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience.

Freedia said she is really excited because they booked a show on the main stage of a music festival, joining big names like Lizzo and Tank and The Bangas. She loves having the chance to perform in front of many people, as well as being able to put her own spin into her performance. Freedia wants to give people an amazing entertainment experience.

Freedia, a popular artist who has worked with Drake on “Nice For What” and Beyonce on “Break My Soul”, said she won’t be joining Lizzo in her closing performance even though the two had made music together in 2018 called “Karaoke”. Freedia added that she supports Lizzo either way. On Friday, Freedia will be releasing an exciting new song called “$100 Bill” which is a collaboration with R&B singer Ciara!

This year’s festival is special because it includes two amazing Puerto Rican artists: Tambuye and Plena Libre, a Latin dance band that was nominated for a Grammy award. Festival producer Quint Davis said he’s very excited about all the new developments. He hopes people will come out to feel the energy of this awesome event!

He said there would be a bunch of amazing singers in the upcoming festival. On the first weekend, Lizzo will perform on Friday; Ed Sheeran and Jazmine Sullivan will take stage on Saturday; and Jill Scott will sing on Sunday. Furthermore, H.E.R., Dead & Company, Kane Brown, and Jon Batiste will perform during next week’s events too. Everyone wanted to join this festival, and all came together at the very end!

The weather looks good for this event which is why many people bought tickets. It’s going to be nice and sunny on Friday, but Saturday and Sunday may have a few showers here and there.

According to Kelly Schulz from New Orleans & Company, the hotels in downtown New Orleans have more guests compared to 2022, but not as much compared to 2019.

This Saturday, cities’ tourism industry was 83% full. This was different than the previous years; in 2022 it had 78%, and before COVID-19 outbreak of 2019, it had 92%. Ms Schulz said that this is just an example of people who are willing to travel again and meet face-to-face.

This year’s festival is not using cash at all. If you only have cash, there will be booths where you can exchange it for a prepaid card. All the major credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards like Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay can be used to buy tickets, food, and merchandise.
