He wants to make it look like his potential opponents aren’t adhering to the Republican party’s values as he gets ready to run for president. Vice President Pence recently spoke at an event held by the Republican National Committee. He said that the party would do better if their candidates supported more traditional values and beliefs, such as supporting the war in Ukraine, cutting back entitlement programs, and limiting abortion rights. His comments were shared beforehand by his team. Vice President Pence is saying that the upcoming Republican primaries will be a competition between different visions. One of these visions is based on classical Republican ideas, while the other one tries to win in any way possible, no matter how low they have to go. He said that for the Republican party to be successful, it needs to follow what it has been doing for the past 50 years. This includes supporting a strong military, having limited government control, and upholding traditional values. He added that if they go ahead with this plan they will triumph while following any other route would be destiny enough to cause them to fail. Soon, Mike Pence is likely going to start his own race for President, which would put him in a direct competition with the current favorite for the Republican nomination – Donald Trump (his former boss). After leaving the White House, Mike Pence distanced himself from Donald Trump. On January 6th 2021, a large group of Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building while Pence was there to certify Joe Biden as President. This made Trump very angry at Pence because he wouldn’t help him with his plan to change the results of the election – and they haven’t gotten along ever since then. At the retreat, Pence spoke out against President Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. He said that the party should not give too much power to individuals and stray away from popular beliefs that don’t really match up with conservative values. In 2022, candidates focused on solving the problems of American families got lots of votes, but those who just kept arguing about what happened during the last election didn’t do too well. To win in 2024, Republicans need to be thinking about how they can make our future better. President Trump and Vice President Pence both attended a meeting at the National Rifle Association in Indiana. However, when they arrived, some of the people in the crowd booed Mr. Pence. This shows that some people are still mad at him since he was part of the 2020 election which may have affected how it went. Donald Trump will be speaking to a group of donors in Nashville Saturday. While he talked from the NRA stage, he made a joke about his former Vice President Mike Pence and said that even though he joked, Pence is still nice and kind. Mike Pence was supposed to talk about those in his party who don’t agree with the United States helping Ukraine after Russia invaded them. He was going to say that Joe Biden wants to lower the amount of money spent on defense, but strangely enough some Republicans think the same thing. Last month, DeSantis said something bad about the war and many fellow Republicans got angry at him. Pence was also supposed to complain about Trump not wanting to change Social Security and Medicare, like by raising the age limit of who can use them – this used to be something Republicans liked talking about a lot. The former president said he won’t change Social Security and this is not good enough for my three granddaughters. He was also talking about how Republicans aren’t doing enough to control abortion rights, despite recent losses in key elections. Recently, the pro-life movement had an important victory and some Republicans don’t want to be associated with it anymore. President Trump has warned that if people try to pass laws making abortion illegal at 6 weeks (like Florida just did) then it could create problems for the Party.
