Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, 81-years-old, has been discharged from a rehab center. He was receiving physical therapy for an injury he got after falling a few weeks ago. Congressman McConnell will be working from his house in the upcoming two weeks when the Senate is on break.

On March 8, McConnell was at a dinner to celebrate a campaign committee connected to him when he had an accident and fell. In addition to getting a concussion, he also broke a rib.

He left the hospital on the 13th and went to a place where he could get physical therapy so that he could keep recovering.

Concussions can be really dangerous and might take a while to recover from. If someone gets hurt by a concussion, it could affect their ability to do things for a period of time.

Senator McConnell said he’ll listen to his physical therapists and do his job as Senator for Kentucky and the Republican Conference from his home for the next few days. He also said that he will keep in contact with other Senators and his staff so he can come back soon.

Four years ago, while he was at home in Kentucky, McConnell tripped and fell. His fall caused a fracture in his shoulder that needed surgery. The Senate had just started their summer holiday, so McConnell stayed at home to recover from the injury since he had polio as a child and find it difficult to climb stairs even when he is an adult.

McConnell became an elected senator in 1984 and now holds the record for longest-serving Senate leader after January of this year, breaking the prior 16-year record.
