Man alleges Kevin Spacey made inappropriate advances, responds with ‘I’m not on that side’

An individual, who encountered Kevin Spacey at a tavern, has come forward to assert that the actor kissed his neck and groped him while they were momentarily isolated during an evening of excessive drinking with others.

Following a rebuff where the man told the two-time Academy Award-winning actor, “Apologies, man, I’m not on that side,” Spacey purportedly appeared to be flustered, according to the individual’s testimony.

A police interview with the complainant was presented on Tuesday to the jury at Spacey’s sexual assault trial in a London courtroom.

Spacey, 63, has entered a plea of not guilty to twelve accusations which, if he is found guilty, could lead to his imprisonment. His legal representation states that Spacey refutes all allegations of nonconsensual conduct and suggests that the plaintiffs are seeking financial compensation from the affluent celebrity.

Four men have raised allegations pertaining to events that took place between 2001 and 2013 while Spacey was engaged at the Old Vic Theatre. The charges include seven instances of sexual assault, three instances of indecent assault, and coercing an individual into participating in non-consensual sexual activity.

The complainant, who remains anonymous in accordance with UK court regulations, stated that Spacey invited him and others to continue their revelry at a residence where Spacey was staying in the Cotswolds after the tavern closed, providing alcohol and marijuana.

The witness conveyed that Spacey was amiable as he consumed double servings of Jack Daniel’s whiskey and colas in the tavern with the man and his friends. As the alcohol flowed, the group affectionately started referring to the actor as “K-Dawg,” according to the witness.

The man stated he did not consider Spacey’s physical displays of affection—placing his hands on the backs and legs of the man and his friends—at the tavern to be concerning at the time.

However, he described feeling unsettled by what happened later when he unintentionally allowed Spacey’s dog to escape from the residence while returning from smoking outside. He explained that he managed to retrieve the dog and apologized to Spacey, who reassured him and approached him in a manner the man described as “huggy.”

“We shared what I’d call an awkward man-hug,” the witness recollected. “He embraced me, and I responded with a pat on the back.”

Spacey then allegedly kissed the man’s neck, groped him, and murmured, “Be cool, be cool,” the witness testified.

The man recounted how Spacey’s eyes widened in apparent shock when he pushed the actor away.

The witness stated he left the residence and disclosed the unwanted physical interaction to his father during the car ride home.

When questioned by police regarding the allegation, Spacey claimed not to remember kissing anyone’s neck or groping them, and asserted he would not have behaved in such a manner without explicit consent, according to the prosecutor’s opening remarks.

Spacey acknowledged it was “entirely possible and indeed likely” that he had made an “awkward advance” that he had since forgotten and might have inadvertently touched someone inappropriately in the process, the prosecutor stated.

The prosecutor added that the actor recognized a photograph of the man, suggesting he might have been among the group Spacey was drinking with at the time.

The witness is set to undergo cross-examination on Wednesday before a jury composed of nine men and three women at Southwark Crown Court.

Spacey, who has residences in both the U.S. and London, is currently out on bail.
