For Yanai, designing wearable art has been a passion. But as her brother-in-law, Dan Mor, shared during a phone conversation on Thursday, her heart wasn’t just devoted to art. Yanai, 40, who vanished post a desert festival last Saturday, was deeply compassionate towards both humans and animals.

“Moran embodies gentleness,” Dan Mor reflects, the brother to Moran’s sister, Lea. “Her profound kindness, especially towards animals, was sometimes overwhelming. One could barely consume meat in her presence due to her deep empathy towards not only domesticated animals but also those in the wild.”

Dan Mor struggles to speak of Moran in past tense, indicating the depth of their bond. However, this pain is dwarfed by the unsettling uncertainties surrounding her disappearance. The family’s anguish intensified after a disturbing video emerged on TikTok, showcasing a distressed Yanai surrounded by derogatory comments in Arabic about Jews.

Prior to her disappearance, Yanai had uploaded a video on Instagram, en route to the rave, expressing her eagerness to showcase and sell her designs. A subsequent video depicted her masterpieces arrayed on a festival table.

The caption for one of the videos stated, “Moran, with a heart full of kindness, has never inflicted pain on any being, even the smallest of insects.” Her works, as Mor elucidated, draw inspiration from myriad cultures, encompassing both Chinese and Arab influences.

“Moran is a genuine artist, and her anticipation was palpable for this significant exhibition of her silver jewelry,” Dan Mor expressed.

Amidst the enveloping sorrow, Dan Mor, a Tel Aviv-based actor, conveyed how deeply the family feels Yanai’s absence. As they navigate this harrowing period, they find solace in sharing her story with the world.

“My cherished sister-in-law, the beloved aunt to my children,” he uttered emotionally. “Her heart is immense, and I fervently hope it continues to beat.”
