Houston Authorities Report 1 Teenager Dead, 3 Injured Following Crossfire Incident

In the early hours of Sunday, a shooting incident occurred in the southwestern part of Houston, resulting in the death of one teenager and injuries to three other young individuals, as reported by local law enforcement.

Deputy Chief Wyatt Martin of Houston Police Department stated that a confrontation outside a commercial establishment sparked the violent episode on West Fuqua Street shortly after 1 a.m.

“We are still gathering information about the exact reasons behind the shooting. It appears two factions were engaged in a shoot-out,” Martin shared during a press briefing at the location of the incident.

The deceased victim was a 17-year-old female who was nearing her 18th birthday, Martin revealed.

Among the injured, all of whom sustained non-critical wounds, were an 18-year-old female and two males, aged 18 and 20. The female victim was taken to a nearby medical facility by firefighters, while the men sought treatment at a hospital by their own means, said Martin.

Evidence from the scene suggests at least two individuals were firing weapons, indicated by numerous shell casings discovered at the site, Martin mentioned.

“The situation was extremely tumultuous,” Martin admitted, encouraging any witnesses to step forward. “We hope someone who was present might have seen something, perhaps even captured it on their phone. It seems like these days, most people are constantly recording with their phones.”
