Unfortunately, Spotify recently released a statement saying that they have decided to not keep the game and are now saying goodbye to Heardle. Likewise, they posted this same announcement on Heardle’s homepage. Heardle is a game that was released in February 2022. It plays a short part of any song and challenges you to guess the song quickly. Recently, the mystery song was “Why Don’t You Get A Job” by the Offspring which came out in 1998! When Spotify bought Heardle in July, it gave users the ability to find and listen to songs on the app. That’s what Spotify wanted when they purchased the game from its makers, as stated in the announcement blog post. However, a notice about the game ending reported that Spotify is going to be concentrating more of their efforts into other ways for people to discover music. The company stopped the game and it’s not sure whether it will continue later on or not. When Spotify bought the game, they did not mention the name of the person who made and sold it. According to Variety – an online magazine- a “London-based web and app designer” made this game but he preferred to remain anonymous.
