G7 Resolve to Take Unprecedented Action against Russia’s War: ‘No Impunity’

At the end of their meetings in Karuizawa, Japan, diplomats from the G7 nations agreed to take action and put strict sanctions against Russia. This was because they want to fight against any Chinese threats directed towards Taiwan as well as Russia’s act of aggression in Ukraine.

At the summit hosted by Japan in a hot springs resort, leaders of the G-7 countries talked about North Korea’s missile launches and China’s increasing power in Asia. They also reprimanded Russia for attacking innocent people and destroying civilian infrastructure. This was stated to make it clear that this kind of behavior is not acceptable for any nation.

The foreign ministers’ communique is a statement that they are going to keep punishing Russia with increased sanctions and will continue to help Ukraine protect itself. They also prepared this to inform the G-7 summit which will take place in Hiroshima next month about issues like nuclear weapons, Iran, Afghanistan and Myanmar.

Recently, two really serious events happened. China was doing some dangerous things close to Taiwan, which it says is their country, and Russia invaded Ukraine. Right now, Russia has stopped fighting but there’s still fear about what its leader might do – like using nuclear weapons!

The ministers said that it’s not okay for Russia to use nuclear weapons and to threaten to put them in Belarus.

Representatives from the G-7 countries, which include Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and the European Union recently met in Karuizawa for a very important meeting. They discussed how to best deal with aggressive behaviour from both Russia and China as these issues could potentially disrupt the rules created after World War II. Unfortunately, their attempts to resolve this issue at the United Nations have not worked because of Russian and Chinese stubbornness while they are on the Security Council.

Some important people from different countries, like France and Germany, recently visited China. Sadly, this has made some people worried due to China sending a bunch of planes and boats around Taiwan. Additionally, they’ve also been making more nuclear weapons which makes it look like they are up for conflict with other countries.

The G-7 ministers said that having peace between China and Taiwan is really important for the security and success of all countries. They also asked both sides to look for ways to peacefully settle their disagreements. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that all the G-7 ministers agreed on this matter when they spoke with each other in Karuizawa.

The US’s Secretary of State said he had heard in special talks that folks were worried about China. President Biden and the Chinese leader said they wanted to keep talking, but it depends on what China plans to do next.

The G-7 countries said China should not use threats, force, or intimidation. They are very worried about what is happening in the East and South China Seas. The G-7 countries think that China’s claims to own the South China Sea are not right, and they don’t agree with how China is adding military stuff to that region.

China’s Foreign Minister was angry when he heard the statement made by the G-7. He said they were being mean to China by getting involved in private matters, making false statements and badmouthing them.

He said the statement made was rude and showed prejudice and bad intentions towards China. We did not like it and let Japan know, which hosted the meeting.

Even though the leaders of the G-7 countries seem to disagree on how to handle China, U.S. officials said that everyone in the group is worried about what China is doing and wants to find a way to work with China without allowing it to do bad things like cheating on trade rules.

Japan is worried about China taking action to change the world, so they have decided to move away from their traditional ‘defensive only’ policy. Japan’s Foreign Minister said that all members of the G-7 have agreed to protect a free and open international order and to oppose anyone who tries to change it on their own.

Japan is the only G-7 country in Asia, so it draws attention to the Indo-Pacific region. Apart from China, North Korea poses a huge threat. During the past year, North Korea has launched nearly 100 missiles – some of which may have been able to reach mainland USA. Additionally, these short-range weapons pose danger to South Korea and Japan.

We are telling North Korea to not do anything that could make the situation worse, like nuclear tests or firing missiles. If they decide to go against us, then the United Nations Security Council will take action and punish them.

Important people said that all countries need to put powerful punishments on North Korea until they get rid of their weapons that can cause mass destruction and the missiles they have. This needs to happen no matter what.
