This Sunday, the Masters finale saw Jon Rahm take a four-shot lead to become the winner of his second major championship! He joins three other Spaniards – Seve Ballesteros (1980 and 1983), Jose Maria Olazabal (1994 and 1999), and Sergio Garcia (2017) – who have achieved a similar feat and won a green jacket.

At the start of the final round, Koepka had a two-stroke lead. By the end, he had shot 75 and gone 22 straight holes without a single birdie, losing his chance to win his fifth major title.

At Augusta National golf course, the 13th hole was made harder this year. They increased the distance from a tee box by 35 yards, which made it the hardest par 5 on the whole course. Although it was more difficult to play, there were still 8 people who managed to get an eagle!

Tiger Woods had to suddenly stop playing on Sunday morning due to a sore leg. It was the cold, rainy weather that made his leg hurt again since he already had an injury. He was in last place out of all the players who stayed for the whole tournament and he couldn’t keep going.

Sam Bennett, who was the only amateur player (non-professional) to make it through, ended up finishing 16th after shooting 76 then 74 on Saturday and Sunday – but this wasn’t enough to get him an exemption to play next year’s tournament.

Phil Mickelson (aged 52) did an amazing round at the Masters and became the oldest runner-up in history! Before this, Raymond Floyd had held this record when he came second in 1992 at 49 years old. Meanwhile, Rahm impressed everyone with an 8-iron shot that put him within 4 feet of the hole, which gave him a four-shot lead to make sure he won his first Masters title!

Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson had a good tournament – they both scored 21 birdies but it wasn’t enough to beat Rahm, who won with 17 birdies on Sunday!

QUOTEWORTHY: “When I hit my third shot on the green, I could tell it was very close by how the crowd reacted. It made me feel so many different emotions that it nearly brought me to tears. Even though winning a golf tournament is something every player dreams of, I never expected feeling so emotional, especially when I won the Masters.” — Rahm
