During Game 2 of the first-round playoffs between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings on Monday, Warriors forward Draymond Green was removed from the game after he stomped on Domantas Sabonis’ chest following a rebound by Stephen Curry. The Kings ended up winning 114-106.

While the Warriors were trying to move the ball up court and Sabonis was on the ground, Green stepped right hard on Sabonis’ chest. This caused Sabonis to stay down for a while until the referees reviewed the play.

Green said that his leg had been grabbed during Game 1 by Malik Monk, and it happened again in this incident. He added that he doesn’t have much flexibility so he wasn’t able to stretch that far away from Sabonis’ chest.

Sabonis got a technical foul for holding Green’s leg and Green was given an automatic ejection with a flagrant-2 foul. During an interview after the game, Sabonis said that they both were fighting for a rebound and fell on each other – which is normal in basketball. The Kings coach mentioned that after the game, Sabonis would have X-rays to look at his ribs and lungs.

De’Aaron Fox, one of the teammates said: “We hope our brother is okay and not hurt. A fractured rib or a punctured lung is a very serious injury and we hope for the best.”

When the review took place, some fans were chanting mean things against Green, who reacted to them by waving his hands, asking for louder cheers and standing on top of a chair.

Green said he was just having fun while playing the game. Unfortunately this isn’t the first time Green had issues in playoffs as he got suspended in 2016 due to too many flagrant fouls and was even ejected from a playoff match with Memphis last season. Additionally, during his career of 147 playoff games, Green has been called for 6 flagrant fouls and also 27 technical fouls.

Now, people are wondering if the play should have any more penalties or punishments.

Brown said it will be interesting to see what the NBA decides after they look into it.
