Deadly Attack on Israeli Troops Leaves 3 Palestinian Militants Dead

In Israel on Sunday, the military shot three Palestinians who were shooting at them in a place called the West Bank. This region has seen a lot of fighting over the past year. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, which is part of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party, revealed that those killed were their members.

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that three men were killed by Israeli soldiers near Nablus. Their names were Jihad Mohammed al-Shami (24 years old), Uday Othman al-Shami (22) and Mohammed Raed Dabeek (18). The military found three M16 rifles with the men following a shootout and one person was arrested after turning themselves in.

This year, 80 Palestinians have died and 14 Israelis were killed due to some attacks. The Israeli government also increased arrests in the West Bank.

Last week, the Israeli military led a raid on a Palestinian village called Jaba where three militants were killed. Later that day, someone in Tel Aviv shot and injured 3 people before getting shot himself and dying.

Trouble between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank has been really bad this year. It all began last spring when some Palestinians attacked some Israelis, which caused Israeli soldiers to go on lots of raids in the West Bank almost every night.

In 2022, in the West Bank and east Jerusalem areas, nearly 150 Palestinians were killed – making it the most violent year since 2004. During that same time, 30 people also died due to attacks by Palestinians. The military has said that most of those who died were militants but other people not even involved with these confrontations have been killed too – such as kids throwing stones to protest.

Israel thinks that it needs to do raids in order to stop future attacks, but the amounts of attacks are actually increasing. The Palestinians think that Israel controlling the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and east Jerusalem is too long and they want these lands for their own state. All these places were captured by Israel during the 1967 war in the Middle East.
