This made people worry that a war could take place because of the ongoing clashes around Jerusalem’s holiest area. On Friday, it looked like both sides were trying to keep the conflict in balance. After sunrise, the fighting between Israel and its neighbors had stopped, and prayer time at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem went peacefully. However, not too long after that, a Palestinian shot two women near an Israeli settlement in the West Bank – which was a reminder of how dangerous the situation is right now. Early in the morning, Israel attacked somebody after they shot many rockets from Lebanon to Israel. This was serious, and it happened because of a fight in Jerusalem when Israeli police went into the Al-Aqsa Mosque. People got angry throughout all Arab countries. The Israeli military attacked targets that belonged to Palestinian groups which it says launched around thirty rockets at some areas in Northern Israel and open land. Even though the Palestinians carried out this attack, the Israeli military believes Hezbollah, a political group from Southern Lebanon had some influence on them. Several people living in the town of Qalili, including Syrian refugees, reported that they were hurt in a bombing. Bilal Suleiman wakes up from his shock and quickly gathered his family to safety. Thankfully no serious injuries occurred. Israeli missiles recently hit a field near the Palestinian refugee camp of Rashidiyeh, killing some sheep in the process. Furthermore, a bridge and power transformer in the nearby town of Maaliya were also damaged by airstrikes, as well as an irrigation system that provided water to area orchards. Israel sent military forces to strike places in the Gaza Strip that it believes have weapons and underground tunnel entrances made by Hamas. People in Gaza used their eyes to look at what was left after Israel’s assault, including a children’s hospital. This is according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. After attacking back, Israelis residing near the border region were able to go home from their bomb shelters. Even though many of the missiles that entered Israeli territory landed in open areas, one missile ended up impacting Sderot, causing pieces of it to burst into a house. Luckily, nobody was hurt on either side of the border. The Israeli military stated that it does not want to start a big fight. According to Lt. Col. Richard Hecht, the military spokesperson, they will remain peaceful if the other side does too. In the West Bank, two sisters in their 20s and their 45-year-old mother were killed and injured from a shooting attack. They lived in Efrat, an Israeli settlement close to Bethlehem. Their dad saw the attack while driving behind them in another car. Emergeny workers rushed to take out the women from the rocks that their vehicle was pushed off of. Tensions between places remain high in this area. The Israeli military are looking for those who did an attack and put up blockades around the area. Nobody admitted to being behind the attack, but a Hamas spokesperson said that it was done in response to what Israel had done in some places such as the West Bank and Al-Aqsa mosque. Al-Aqsa is an important location in Jerusalem which both Muslims and Jews consider sacred. In 2021, there was a lot of conflict between Israel and Gaza’s leaders, called Hamas. This argument ended with a 11-day war that started from the fighting at Al-Aqsa. Many people went to the compound for midday prayers on Friday, and they left without anything bad happening. At dawn prayers earlier, things got chaotic because Israeli police rushed to the entrance and hit some Palestinians who were shouting praises of Hamas and trying to get in. An hour later, videos showed that a lot of people leaving the area had congregated in the courtyard; these Palestinians waved their fists and yelled at Israel. The presence of Israeli police made everyone angry, especially since it was almost Ramadan, an Islamic holy month. The police wouldn’t say anything about the earlier fights, but they said the security team had to enter a holy place after their prayer time ended because of some masked people that threw rocks at one of the gates. The Israeli government controls who goes there, but it is taken care of by Muslims and Jordanians. Friday was a special day in the Jerusalem’s Old City. Christians were visiting the places Jesus is believed to have gone on Good Friday. Jews were celebrating their week-long Passover festival and Muslims were praying and fasting for Ramadan. Last Wednesday, Israeli police entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque and attacked some Palestinians. The Palestinians defended themselves by throwing rocks and fireworks. This caused a rocket to be sent from Gaza on Thursday, and then it also led to a bigger attack from Lebanon which caused Israel to retaliate. The government of Lebanon said on Friday that it told its representatives in New York at the United Nations to talk to the Security Council in regards to Israel bombing and attacking them. They strongly disagreed with this, calling it an illegal violation of their country’s rules. While the Lebanese and Gaza borders are mostly quiet, bad things are happening in the West Bank. In the past few months there have been a lot of fights and violence, with Palestinian health officials saying that this is the most dangerous it’s been for Palestinians in twenty years. 90 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of this year. At the same time, 16 people, mostly civilians, were killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians. The Israeli government say most of thosePalestinians who died were actually fighters, but some of them were just kids throwing stones to protest as well as other people who had nothing to do with it.
