Couple Marries on Eiffel Tower Summit Amidst Unforeseen Circumstances, Covered by Associated Press Reporter

On a recent Thursday, law enforcement detained a man who was ascending the Eiffel Tower, causing an interruption that left visitors—including a reporter from The Big Big News and a couple from Washington, D.C.—temporarily confined to the structure’s peak. The couple seized the unexpected opportunity to exchange marital vows.

Originally, Amir Khan had plotted to propose to Kat Warren later that day in a secluded Parisian garden, followed by an intimate dinner along the River Seine.

However, due to the closure of the tower’s elevators prompted by the presence of the climber, Khan saw fit to execute his matrimonial plans prematurely.

In an opportune twist of fate, Pat Eaton-Robb, a journalist with the Associated Press hailing from Connecticut, was also among those stranded and managed to capture the couple’s unique tale.

“When I realized we might be delayed for an extended period, I didn’t want our dinner plans to be ruined. She had always dreamed of a proposal either on or near the Eiffel Tower. It seemed the perfect time,” Khan informed the Associated Press correspondent.

The proposal was met with affirmative consent.

“The likelihood of me saying ‘Yes’ was high from the get-go,” Warren admitted, her voice tinged with humor.

The couple shared a lighthearted sentiment that rejecting a proposal under such extraordinary conditions would have been improbable. “If I had said ‘No,’ we might have had another individual scaling the Eiffel Tower today,” Warren quipped.

Alice Beunardeau, the Communications Director for the famed Paris landmark, stated that the intruder was apprehended between the second and third levels of the tower. A squad of firefighters specially trained in climbing escorted the man to the ground where he was subsequently taken into custody by the police.

Beunardeau later revealed that the climber was holding a banner related to American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish. “To the best of my knowledge, the message was ‘Free Billie Eilish,’ although I cannot confirm this at the current time,” she said.

In a side note, the Associated Press reporter and his spouse Kathleen have had an eventful week in Paris. They were part of a gathering evacuated from the Palace of Versailles earlier in the week due to a separate security alert.
