Taking the stage at the age of 65, Madonna recounted her arduous year, noting that even her medical team had doubts about her recovery. She credited her motivation to persevere to her children, stating, “I had to endure for their sake.” The premiere event of the tour was doubly significant as it coincided with her daughter Lourdes Leon’s 27th birthday, who made a guest appearance on stage.

Despite a minor technical glitch, the tour’s inaugural evening was indeed a commemorative affair. Madonna performed a gamut of songs that spanned her extensive career, encompassing both iconic studio recordings and archival footage. The set list featured timeless hits like “Like a Prayer,” “Holiday,” “Vogue,” and “La Isla Bonita,” as well as more specialized tracks like “Die Another Day,” originally from the 2002 James Bond film of the same title.

Amidst an acoustic segment of the concert, Madonna took the opportunity to comment on the persisting conflict in the Middle East. “Although our hearts may be shattered, our resolve remains unbreakable,” she remarked, expressing her aspiration for a “shared consciousness to reshape the world and instill peace.”

The North American phase of Madonna’s Celebration Tour has been reorganized. Initially planned to commence on July 15 in Vancouver and conclude on October 8 in Las Vegas, the rescheduled segment will now begin on December 13 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and will extend until April 24, 2024, when it will wrap up at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes.
