The accusers expressed that they felt prepared to share their accounts only after being contacted by journalists, with some attributing their decision to Brand’s increasing influence as a wellness advocate online.

Before the media reports were published, Brand released a video in which he denied the allegations that had been detailed in two “highly disturbing letters” sent by a mainstream television network and a newspaper, although he did not specify which organizations these were.

“In the face of a plethora of rather elaborate attacks, there are severe allegations that I categorically reject,” Brand stated. “The allegations date back to my years in mainstream media, when I was regularly in the public eye—both in print and on screen—and as I have openly discussed in my writings, I had a highly promiscuous lifestyle during that time.”

He continued, “During that period of promiscuity, the relationships I engaged in were entirely consensual. I was transparent about this at the time, perhaps excessively so, and I maintain that transparency now.”

Brand also alluded to the possibility that the allegations might be part of a concerted effort to tarnish his reputation, especially given his controversial stance on issues such as COVID-19 vaccinations and his interviews with divisive figures like Joe Rogan.

“To have my forthrightness transformed into criminal behavior, which I strenuously deny, leads me to wonder whether another motive is at work,” said Brand.
