Breaking News: D-backs Designate Madison Bumgarner For Assignment

The Arizona Diamondbacks have made the decision to stop using left-hander Madison Bumgarner after he didn’t do very well in his recent performance.

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed Madison Bumgarner, the 2014 World Series MVP, on waivers Thursday after he gave up seven runs in three innings against St. Louis Cardinals. This means they have seven days to trade him or else let him become a free agent. Someone told Big Big News about this move but wanted to remain anonymous because it hasn’t been officially announced yet.

This All Star player hadn’t done very well since he joined the Arizona team in 2020 and signed a 5-year deal worth $85 million. Before that, he was considered a star for his former San Francisco team. With the Arizona team, this 33-year-old has lost 32 games out of 69 that he played, while having his worst season so far. His most recent game ended with him giving up 5 or more runs and putting his record at 1 win and 3 losses with a 10.26 ERA overall.

“I wish I had some answers, but right now I don’t,” said Bumgarner after Wednesday’s game. He added that he’d still be looking for them though. He has a lot of money left from his contract – around $34.4 million dollars – including $20.4 million this season. But if he clears waivers, he can sign up with any team and get paid the league minimum which is only $720,000.

Madison Bumgarner was a legendary pitcher for the San Francisco Giants and dominated baseball for 11 seasons. He led them to 3 World Series titles and was unstoppable during his career – he pitched over 200 innings 7 times and even saved Game 7 of the 2014 World Series with an impressive 5 inning performance!
