Autopsy Report Confirms Childbirth Complications as Cause of Tori Bowie’s Death

Tori Bowie, an Olympic sprint champion from the United States, succumbed to complications related to childbirth, reveals the autopsy report.

Bowie, known for her triumphant performance at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where she bagged three medals, tragically passed away last month at 32 years of age.

As per the medical examiner’s report from Orlando, Florida, it is believed that Bowie, who was about eight months pregnant, was experiencing labor at the time of her death on May 2nd. She was discovered in her secured residence, exhibiting symptoms such as respiratory distress and eclampsia, among possible other complications. The report classified her death as natural.

During the early days of May, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to a residence in response to a welfare check request for a woman in her thirties, unseen or unheard from in days. This woman was later confirmed to be Frentorish “Tori” Bowie.

Despite the tragic circumstances, toxicology reports came back negative, and her medical records indicated a history of bipolar disorder.

Raised by her grandmother in Mississippi since infancy, Bowie initially saw herself as a basketball player. Only in her teenage years did she reluctantly step onto the track, where she quickly evolved into an outstanding sprinter and long jumper. Her college years at Southern Mississippi saw her dominate the NCAA championships, clinching both the indoor and outdoor long jump titles in 2011.

Bowie’s stunning performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics earned her silver in the 100m and bronze in the 200m. She subsequently ran the final leg in the 4x100m relay with teammates Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, and English Gardner, clinching the gold medal.

In 2017, she secured the top spot in the 100 meters at the world championships in London, also leading the 4×100 team to victory.
