People exploring an ancient city in southern Italy recently discovered some really cool things. They found terracotta bull heads and a statue of Eros, the Greek god of love, riding on a dolphin. This discovery helps us learn more about the religious activities and events that took place there.

Archaeologists have just found some old stuff from a temple in Paestum, a city from the 5th century BC. Paestum is close to Pompeii and alongside the Amalfi coast. Scientists discovered this temple near the walls of the ancient city in 2019 but had to stop their excavation work because of COVID-19.

A bunch of archaeologists found some cool things during excavations near a temple. They came across seven bull’s heads which seemed to have been placed there as an offering, and a statuette shaped like a dolphin might have even been made by the Avili family – an artist group that had never been seen in Paestum before.

Digging at the temples began in 1950, and the ministry believes there are still many hidden treasures in this area. The Ancient Romans took control of the city around 275 BC and changed its name from Magna Graecia to Paestum.
