Assault charge dropped against Raiders’ Davante Adams for shoving photographer

Las Vegas Raiders’ wide receiver Davante Adams no longer faces an assault charge that was filed against him last October after he pushed a photographer to the ground while leaving the field following a loss against Kansas City. The case, which was filed in Kansas City municipal court, was dismissed on June 5, as reported by the Kansas City Star.

Adams’ lawyer, J.R. Hobbs, chose not to provide any comments on the matter.

According to the Kansas City, Missouri police, Adams pushed Ryan Zebley to the ground as he was running off the field after the Raiders’ 30-29 loss to the Chiefs on October 10. The police initially described it as an intentional and overt act that resulted in whiplash, a headache, and a possible minor concussion.

Adams expressed his apologies during his postgame remarks to the media and later on Twitter. He explained that Zebley had unexpectedly jumped in front of him, leading to his instinctive push. Adams acknowledged his frustration but also emphasized that it was a mix of emotions combined with Zebley’s sudden presence.

At the time of the incident, Zebley was carrying video equipment for a local production company that was contracted with ESPN to cover the game. In May, he filed a lawsuit against Adams, the Raiders, and the Chiefs, claiming that he had been targeted online and experienced concerns for his safety immediately following the incident. The lawsuit, which was filed in Jackson County Circuit Court, is still ongoing, according to the Kansas City Star.
