An Amtrak train in Southern California derailed after colliding with a truck on the tracks, causing injuries to the truck driver and passengers on board. The incident occurred in Moorpark, and according to Ventura County Fire Department Captain Brian McGrath, three out of the train’s seven cars went off the tracks. Fortunately, the derailed train cars remained upright, and the injured individuals were promptly taken to hospitals for treatment. Fourteen passengers sustained minor injuries, while the truck driver was transported to a trauma center due to a head injury. The wreckage of the Ventura County Public Works truck was scattered near the derailed train cars, and it remains unclear whether the driver had exited the vehicle before the crash. Investigations into the accident are still ongoing. Despite the severity of the incident, many passengers were able to safely evacuate with the assistance of first responders. Amtrak, in collaboration with local authorities, is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
