It has been 18 years since he started playing for the Green Bay Packers and now, as a 4-time NFL MVP, he hopes that the team will eventually trade him. It seems like the Packers want their 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love to become their new starting QB instead of Rodgers. I have been saying since Friday that I want to play for the New York Jets. I haven’t been doing anything wrong and the Packers are trying to get something from me in return. The Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy said the team allowed the Jets to speak with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The star of the franchise since Brett Favre left in 2008. The Jets actually sent a group including their owner, Woody Johnson, coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas last week to visitRodgers at his house in Southern California. Rodgers thanked the Green Bay Packers for 18 amazing years, but said it’s time for them to make the right decision. I feel so much love for the Packer’s fans and everyone who works there. My time in Green Bay has improved my life for the better. But the team doesn’t want me back, which is okay because they are ready to go forward with their new player Jordan. He will be great at what he does! The Packers have not made any comment about what their quarterback, Aaron Rodgers said. In the past few days, people were speculating that Aaron Rodgers would likely no longer be a Packer. Last week, Murphy even talked about Aaron Rodgers in the future as if he wasn’t part of the team anymore. Murphy says not many players stay with only one team for a long time. Brett and Aaron have had great careers, but even though things may change, Aaron will still go to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and we’ll retire his number here too. We want to make sure that both Aaron and the team get something good out of this. In an interview on the Green Bay TV station WCWF, aired Friday during the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association girls basketball championships, Murphy said if Rodgers asked for it he would grant his trade request. He said that both he and Rodgers should be happy with the outcome of their negotiations, a “win-win” situation. At the end of 2022, Rodgers said he needed time to decide if he wanted to stay with the Packers, move to another team or stop playing football. This week, he told reporters that he talked with Packers people right after their 8-9 season ended, which broke their streak of three division titles in a row. The Green Bay Packers told quarterback Aaron Rodgers that if he wants to retire, the team would welcome it. However, if he wanted to come back and play in the future, then their doors are open too. During his time of deciding, Rodgers spent a few days alone in a dark room in Oregon as part of an inner reflection retreat. Before the retreat, Aaron Rodgers said that he was 90% sure he was going to retire. After retreating, he noticed the Green Bay Packers had a different approach towards his future with them. “When I came out of the darkness something had changed,” Rodgers said. “People around the league, especially players, told me that people were interested in trading me. This made me realise that the Packers probably didn’t want me anymore.” It was obvious to me that the Packers wanted to move on from this, even though they said the opposite. I don’t know why their minds changed or what caused them to do this – it’s like they pressed a switch and decided, without anyone feeling like someone had harmed them. I’m not saying I am a victim here. The Jets want to end the longest streak in the NFL for not making it to the playoffs and so they have shown interest in Rodgers. Last season, they lost their last six games out of ten and haven’t gone to the playoffs since 2010. Their new offensive coordinator is Nathaniel Hackett who was praised a lot by Rodgers as he ran Green Bay’s offense from 2019-2021. According to Rodgers, there’s lots of reasons why joining the Jets is appealing but he has a very special coach there. Saleh and Johnson are excited to bring in an older quarterback to their already top-notch defense team. If Rodgers does join the Jets then it would be like history repeating itself. In 2008, the Packers made a move that led to legendary quarterback Brett Favre leaving and Aaron Rodgers taking his spot. During his career, Favre earned 3 awards as Most Valuable Player (MVP). For three years prior to this, Rodgers was Favre’s back up after being drafted from the University of California at 24th overall in the 2005 draft. Jordan Love started backing up Rodgers for three seasons since he was chosen out of Utah State University in 2020 with 26th overall pick. People have been talking a lot about what’s going to happen with Rodgers since the Packers chose Love. Rodgers was really shocked when this happened. He didn’t show up for their required meeting one year later, but both sides worked it out in the end. Last year, Rodgers extended his contract after he had two excellent seasons and won the MVP title twice. Last June, when someone asked Aaron Rodgers if he was going to stay with the Packers for the rest of his career, he said yes. But after a bad year in 2022 where he got his lowest passer rating and had 12 interceptions (that’s the highest number of interceptions since 2008), he changed his mind and now believes it’s time to move on from Green Bay. “It’s been a tough time for me,” Rodgers shared. “I was drafted by Green Bay, I like that area and organization a lot. But at the moment, we all want to go our separate ways.” You Might Be Interested In Damar Hamlin Sets Incredible Example by Being Cleared to Play after Cardiac Arrest T-Mobile’s Acquisition of Mint, Partially Owned by Ryan Reynolds: What Does it Mean?
