Airport Protests

A 2-year-old girl, who had strayed from her residence in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, was discovered in the woods hours later, asleep with two family dogs. According to state police, she had nestled herself comfortably atop the smaller dog, using it as a makeshift pillow.

Lieutenant Mark Giannunzio remarked on the extraordinary nature of the situation, stating, “She laid down and used one of the dogs as a pillow, and the other dog laid right next to her and kept her safe.”

The search for the toddler involved the deployment of drones and police dogs by troopers, with the assistance of local law enforcement and concerned citizens from both Michigan and neighboring Wisconsin. The incident unfolded after Michigan State Police’s Iron Mountain post received a call around 8 p.m. on Wednesday regarding the child’s disappearance from a residence in the Faithorn area of Menominee County.

Remarkably, around midnight, a citizen riding an ATV located the child approximately 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) away from her home.

Medical professionals examined the girl, and she appeared to be in good health. Faithorn, an unincorporated village situated just east of the Wisconsin state line, is approximately 60 miles (97 kilometers) southwest of Marquette, Michigan.
